About Us & Our Wedding Cakes for Richmond

Susan Van Ness has the pleasure of baking the majority of our specialty and wedding cakes. She has plenty of experience in baking and decorating cakes for friends and family over the years. She is the proud grandma of 11 grandchildren and makes time to be with them whenever she can.

Mary Gough is one of Susan’s daughters. They enjoy working together and have spent many late nights decorating cakes. She loves to decorate and has an eye for detail and consistency. Mary is a mother of three and is greatly appreciative of her wonderful husband, Anthony.

Anthony has helped with some of the 3-D and groom’s cakes. He also has endured the joys of traffic during the delivery and set-up process. Anthony also has taken the majority of the photos of our cakes and managed our website for many years.

Mary and Susan have a certification through 3 Wilton Decorating Courses given at a local Michael’s Craft Store. They try to stay on top of the trends for wedding cakes and want to make your cake the best that it can and should be. They see this business as an outlet of expression through cake and love, offering their expertise and ideas to personalize each cake.

Consultations

This appointment time includes a customized design concept of your cake. We offer a cake sampling of 2 flavors of cake and filling of your choosing with a butter cream icing and whatever flavors that may have been made for that week. Appointments are made upon an individual basis and if you are unable to make the appointment or are 30 minutes late you are responsible to reschedule. We try to keep this consultation time at an hour or less. If more time is needed then we will schedule that for another time.

Delivery and Set-up

These charges are based upon location. The correct address of delivery site must be given at time of consultation. Please have the cake table ready and stable. We ask that you appoint someone to be there at time of delivery. Our photo is proof of delivery and set-up.

Pick Ups

You may pick up your cake(s) from our bakery site in Hopewell, Virginia. You are expected to pick up the cake within 15 minutes of scheduled time. We cannot guarantee that we will be here if you come later than this. You will be responsible to call and set up another pick up time. If cake order is not picked up within 2 days, it will be disposed of and there will be no refund.

Payment

We require a deposit of 50% of total at time order is placed. Any remaining balance must be paid 2 weeks prior to event. If an order is placed within 1 month of event, then payment is expected in full. We accept payment by cash, money order, check or you may pay by card online through PayPal on our website. If order is cancelled within 30 days of event date the deposit is nonrefundable.

Rentals

We apologize for any inconvenience, but rentals are no longer offered.
